Today i thought i’d step outside of my normal gaming or MMORPG post and do something from my fandom. I’ll call it a nerd post if you will. I use that word complimentary of course although i’m not really sure if this is even nerdy. To me it’s just a normal thing that i don’t really label or think about. It’s just something i enjoy and i thought some of you would enjoy as well. No need to giggle like a little girl as i’ve taken care of that already upon my receiving of this gift.

I’m not really a collector of memorabilia as i honestly don’t have many pieces even worth mentioning. I pick up little interesting items here and there if they grab me or if they mean something to me. To even suggest i have any sort of collection of anything would be pretty far out there. I used to collect baseball cards as a kid in the 80’s but that was the extent of it and not really relevant here. So when my friend decided to make me an original Luke Skywalker lightsaber from scratch and give it to me as a gift, i immediately had a piece worthy of the collection tag. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

I was immediately blown away as any fan of Star Wars probably would be. It’s something i’ve always wanted and thought about purchasing but the price tag was always higher than i was willing to spend on an item that was going to sit on a shelf. Let’s be honest, the times i’d take it off the shelf and hop around the room air dueling still wouldn’t justify spending hundreds but it would fulfil a fantasy i suppose. That would probably be worth it, or at least that’s what i’d tell myself.

Luckily i had a good friend that was not only a fan as well but knew how to make one of these. I’m not entirely sure what it’s made of but it feels like one of those giant heavy industrial flashlights. What i mean is it has really good weight and doesn’t feel cheap in the slightest. It’s very well fabricated and constructed for sure. Now i have an item worthy of calling a collectors piece. The only thing i need now is a shelf to put it on and maybe some sort of display case to put it in. Oh and more stuff to surround it with. It looks pretty lonely all by itself.
